You Are Stardust The field recordings of waves and boats just soothe the listener, and you become entranced over the course of 13 blissful minutes. Favorite track: Noyo Jetty.
Mood Exhibit

Mood Exhibit Excellent mix of field recordings, ambient, and wonderful piano playing. "Prelude to Rain" is like piano recital over a cliff with soft rain above. Very much an escape to nature for contemplation. Favorite track: Prelude to the Rain — ambient mix.

about

All tracks are based on my field recordings of the Mendocino County Coast of northwestern California, where I live.

Besides benefitting the Noyo Center for Marine Science, hopefully this album provides aural snapshots to remind visitors of their experiences here and share these experiences with those who may never visit.

The ultimate aim of all my ambient pieces is to help listeners everywhere become more attentive to and appreciative of not only coastal sounds but also the sonic universe around us always. It was gratifying that a boat owner took the time to write:

"Over the years I have been to Noyo Jetty a countless number of times to fish, investigate, be invigorated, etc. Hearing was mostly unnoticed as my experience was seeing, feeling the bite, looking at the water patterns, being safe, and wonderment. The experience of sound was overrun by the other senses. Listening to the ambient and musical qualities was a deep sound experience of this special place in my heart."

about

John Gilmore Fort Bragg, California

Lucky to have gone to Indiana University before it had majors in jazz but did have stellar students and Jerry Coker on the faculty while David Baker was teaching out of his house in Indianapolis. More fortune back in Chicago exploring with AACM pioneers. Now grateful to be on the northern California coast playing steady piano gigs and making soundscapes of this time and place. ... more
